Valves for Defence & Aerospace
L&T Valves is a strategic partner in the nation’s defence and aerospace programmes. In the last three decades, the company has developed many mission-critical flow-control solutions for classified projects. The continued successes in defence and aerospace domains bear witness to the company’s capabilities in technology management, new product design and precision manufacture.
In November 2019, L&T Valves became the first private enterprise in India to secure the coveted ‘Green Channel Status’ from the Directorate General Quality Assurance (DGQA), Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The certification empowers manufacturers to self-certify their supplies to the Defence Services.
Design
The products are designed for 'long design life' by a dedicated team of experts. Finite Element Analysis (FEA, Structural, Thermal and Shock) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are employed to fine-tune the designs. Rigorous prototype development and functional qualification tests ensure that the designs are translated into high performance products.
L&T Valves has in-house state-of-the-art capabilities and trained manpower to carry out:
- Shock test
- Vibration test
- Flow test
- Helium leak test
- Endurance test
Manufacture
The products are manufactured in an access-controlled precision manufacturing centre equipped with:
- CNC Machining Centres
- CNC Horizontal Boring Machines
- Special Purpose Machines
- Specialised Welding Machines
The products are assembled in a 10K Clean Room, and cleaned and packed using a customised protocol to ensure product integrity is maintained during transit and storage.
